BACK GROUND OF THE GROUP

Formed in August 1998 Natyabhumi Group Theatre is one of the leading registered Theatre group of Tripura. The Group has performed on stage more than two hundred times, within the country and on several occasion on streets. Among the much acclaimed plays are, ‘Haadi Brityanta –a tale of a cooking pot’, ‘Ekti Bhera Khamarer Galpo’ (Tale of a Sheep farm), ‘Pora Mati’ (Barren land), ‘Made in India’, ‘Charaibeti’ (Move forward) ‘Waaksaa’ (Twisted tale of a pig) AUTO DRIVER,MADHUMATI,SATYACHHANA, TOTA KAHINI(twisted) ANUPAMA. All these are written by our member Partha Pratim Acharya. Besides we have produced play written by RitWik Ghatak, Amal Roy and other socially conscious playwrights.

Our drama Haddi Brityanta was performed at the ‘Swarna Rang Prativa Utsav’ festival organised by SANGEET NATAK AKADEMI, a festival of young talented directors.

Natyabhumi Group Theatre has organised 3 (three) International Theatre festivals at Agartala where team from various states and abroad participated. Amid the celebrated theatre artists who perforfomed in our different fests are ICONIC ACTOR FROM KOLKATA MR. SOUMITRA CHATERJEE,MS. LILY CHAKRABORTY,ICONIC ACTOR FROM DHAKA MR.RAMENDU MAZUMDAR,TRAPA & FERDOUSI MAZUMDAR,PROF.MATAJUDDIN AHMED AND MANY TEAMS FROM OTHER STATES OF OUR COUNTRY

We had organised for the first time ever in Tripura, an exhibition of Theatrical props and manuscripts used in different performances in Tripura right from the days of monarchy.

Our Theatre magazine ‘Natya Anan’ is being published regularly.

A North Eastern Children drama Festival were organised on our behest at Agartala by NIPA (A Delhi Based N.G.O) & United Artists, Assam.

‘Ananya’ A teleplay (Commissioned programme of Doordarshan) was written and directed by our Group member Partha Prathim Acharya very recently.

Besides we are providing Workshop assistance to various rural theatre troops and to some college teams at the state capital.

On the 16th Nov. 2005 Natyabhumi Group Theatre had participated in the International Children's Theatre Festival for the first time ever from Tripura at New Delhi. That programme was organised by NIPA. Our production ‘Waaksaa’, was one of the most critically acclaimed plays of the fest. Later on 14th August 2006 we produced the same play at the 3rd National Theatre Fest 06 organised by ESO Natak Shikhi, Kolkata in collaboration with E.Z.C.C. at the Bharatiyam Hall at Kolkata and this time too it was highly acclaimed.WE PERFORMED AT DHAKA ,ORISSA, MIJORAM DELHI KOLKATA AND ALL PARTS OF OUR STATE.panchojonyo,acllection of five plays written by our member PARTHA PRATIM ACHARYA HAS BEEN PUBLISHED IN THE KOLKATA &AGARTALA BOOK FAIR IN 2013.there are three nsd t.ie passouts in our troup.Recently we conducted a theatre workshop at assam on the BOALIAN concept.
